Review: Black Ops (PS3) I've been absent for a long time, but personal commitments have kept me away from this blog ..
does not mean it has not been able to follow my great gaming passion.
Over the past two months I put my hands on two great games, and Halo Reach Black Ops. The first is me literally smoked and completed in (almost all) of its sauces. A guide will make a short
Reach experience especially with regard to the multiplay.
But instead we are to our Black Ops. I bought about five days ago, and I'm almost smoking (even this one!). But first things first
A bit of history Black Ops takes place in a historical period, for me, very intriguing that the period from 60 to early 70's .. basically the Cold War. The game uses a narrative style of high level and in some ways it departs from the classic COD. In fact, earlier we interpret different characters that "in parallel" to carry out their mission which is to weave the complicated network of events around the world. In
BlackOps rather play a single character (except a few minor exceptions the narration). The game starts in a place not too clear, our alter ego is tied to a chair and put under pressure to recall events of the past, this tour will not be a regular marine but a special forces agent who has worked in different areas the world and in different contexts (in Cuba, Korea, Russia, the Pentagon .. and so on).
I do not want to deepen the plot too much because I do not want to spoil the surprise of the plot. I only say that the story is very compelling and can involve the player in a crescendo of events masterfully packaged. In a manner very similar to MW2, BlackOps are found in some references to key people in COD WaW appeared.
Single Mode
The single player follows the classic construct of the last COD, alternating sessions of FPS gaming sessions with classic alternative (to ride a bike, a wagon or a bus) and sometimes surrounded by a few Quick Time Events.
We must say that unfortunately there are so many schemes BlackOps scripted and sometimes even annoying (if played at Veteran). In MW had managed to reduce to a minimum right now ... but you know ... the Infinite is not the Wards Treyarch ... eheh
Compared to previous COD in Black Ops, there are many sessions in the field along with so very, very large arenas that give more freedom to the player to address various times with different strategies and different approaches.
The biggest drawback is that the solo mode is too short, the I'm playing on Veteran and just over 4 hours of play I got half of the intro to the campaign.
From this point of view, the game may seem too short (especially for those who want to take for PC) can be a major deterrent and note down the title. In fact, as we shall see, Black Ops offers a more than longevity, thanks to the many extra modes and a system that offers multiplayer very well done.
One thing that makes me turn up your nose is somewhat anachronistic error on weapons and equipment. There are some weapons and equipment that are present in various missions that take place in times like '63 when in reality those weapons will not be developed except in the late 70 ... I find this a very serious mistake ... But that does not undermine the beauty of the game.
Mode Extra Mode Zombi .. .. back renewed! As mentioned before, the new COD has several interesting Extra. Treyarch has added a couple of Easter Egg to unlock: an arcade game based on how Zombies and nod to the glorious game Mash TV 80's, was also included the full version and original game Zork, one of the first adventures computer when there were no point and click graphical user interfaces. In addition
these little gems that allow you to give in few hours of carefree joy, was included in the new zombie mode. More enriched than the previous. Here you start with a map and as they pass the various stages are highlighted some evidence that deepens the storyline (I have not yet figured out if the clues relate to the main plot of the game, I still could do a much with the zombie mode). Fun to play in both LAN and Internet multi-or split-screen (the PC version via the Internet only).
If you buy the collector's version (or Premium Edition) will be able to have 4 additional maps for the zombie mode (version PC does not have this feature as they are not present on PC special collector's editions).
say that in some of these arenas, fans of the popular role-playing game Sine Requiem will find themselves immersed in an environment very similar to their beloved RPG.
exhilarating Multiplayer The multiplayer mode is the part I was most excited and represents the highest evolution of all modes of the MP series. The system incorporates the basic concepts of MW2, from the first level and can access a limited number of characteristics, abilities and weapons and to a limited type of games.
As we carry out the various challenges (objectives various types, number of kills with a specific weapon, special events, etc.), or just whenever we do a task successfully, gain experience points. In addition to points accumulated experience, we will acquire even money. This money will allow us to buy features, customizations, weapons, accessories, equipment and skills .. yes, this COD is bought and all the skills are not acquired for the mere passage level.
The level of customization of your character has been improved, now you can customize not only weapons but also our character, banners, badges and more.
This COD was also introduced access to a list of missions in the mercenary-style. Once we entered into a certain "contract" would have a time limit within which we must achieve this goal (eg backstabbing 5 enemies). If you reach the goal to earn money and, in some cases, even experience. Contracts are not free, however, when it concludes a person should invest a certain amount of money first.
To give more spice to the game system, this COD is possible to make bets based on the various game modes present
And speaking of rules, there are many, Domination, Sabotage and Headquarters, but also the classics TDM and DM. Also you can customize games by introducing variables of various kinds.
is entrusted with setting up a system of machmaking functional and solid, even though PS3 has some problems from time to time (but nothing so striking - we say that the most stable version is now the Xbox).
The maps are so many (14 if I remember correctly) and they are very different and quite complex. A lot of fun with several additional factors (although compared to MW2 interactive elements are numerically less).
graphics, and performance are The sound is sublime, the PS3 version may flaunt an arrangement of 7.1 (for those with this system) very clearly efficient. But the 5.1 is really well done, very responsive and with any of the events.
The only negative (all versions) is not a perfect sync between the lip and speech ... the dubbing is not bad (WaW was certainly worse) but it is nothing so exciting, especially after I heard the dubbing of original form (a whole 'else).
Graphically the game is very nice, but I think it's less than MW2.
Now I do not know if the comparison is negative the fact that I played MW2 PC (shot up) or not (unfortunately I could not play on PS3 or Xbox MW2). But comparing players with consular of MW2 I got from them the same comments and impressions.
Technically, the game was developed with a native resolution of 1024x608 (PC and Xbox versions) and 992x600 (PS3) that obviously are masterfully upscaled by the PS3 and Xbox at 720p and 1080p on the console versions is applied to an anti-aliasing 2xMMSA. The sore point is not the native resolution of development, but in texture. Compared with MW2 are more pale, almost as if they were made in low resolution and risamplate evil. The effect is not bad in all situations, but only in certain environments (eg Korean jungle textures are very nice), we say that there is no alternation of continuous quality texture. In contrast, however, have much larger environments of its predecessors, this single-player and multi arenas are really great and full of items, buildings, trees, and more. At certain times the width of the field is so large as to render negligible the texture not just quality.
Basically as said before this is Treyarch, as was the case for COD3 and CODWaW, is certainly not up to the Infinity Ward.
console on the other hand you can enjoy a game with a fixed frame at 60 FPS, smooth and without hesitation even in multiplayer sessions. At
the PS3 version suffered some decline in sporadic nell'FPS (negative peaks and inexplicable Members Netcode core and not really optimized for the Cell), within 24 hours after its launch, Treyarch has released the patch 1.02 that has put in place the frame rate, making it as solid as the Xbox.
Nothing to be done instead on the PC version where the code is not optimized absolutely can not even run well on existing machines to medium-high; problems even on machines running NVidia 460 and i5, the game barely manages to reach 50 frames per second in order to have smooth frame rates, lower number of details to minimize them, the PC version also suffers from a bad Netcode and this poses serious problems in the management of their matchmaking. Treyarch sure that soon will release a patch for PC to solve these problems, but at the time on PC the game is to be truly a tragedy.
Last note, the PS3 and Xbox versions you can play in 3D (provided you have a 3D monitor). Now on the 360 \u200b\u200bI had no way of testing and I can not say how, but I was lucky enough to try (even if for a few minutes) the PS3 version on a 50 "3D Well .. I must say I was surprised; I admit that the stereoscopic aspect plays a role and a very satisfactory feeling of immersion. I must say I loved it, although I admit that with the glasses and stereoscopic I doubt you can play more than one hour in a row. . too tiring for the eyes. Clearly it is only an initial impression I should have the opportunity to play more, but I'm not a lucky owner of TV3d eheh
differences between the various platforms The game was released on Wii, Xbox, PS3 and PC.
On Wii the game is rather painful, very low resolution and a few interactive elements on the game, a few men controlled by AI .. in fact a fake, but obviously this old Wii is a platform you know. On the other hand is the only version of Black Ops that you can play with a motion controller.
versions PC, Xbox, PS3 similar characteristics, there are very few differences in both the gameplay and in graphics. Both consoles are nearly identical and therefore the choice between one or the other is left to the subjectivity each one of us (I got one for PS3). The PC version is currently too immature and do not recommend it to anyone, turns bad and you need a nice powerful hardware in order to fully enjoy all its features. In any case does not differ greatly from the console counter part (if not for the mouse and keyboard).
On the controller, I must say they did a great job, the control system is nice and sensitive and precise we play well with the PS3 pad. The Treyarch has added the option on the PS3 to enable aiming assistance or not. Turning off this option (but I could not evidence) based devices also use the mouse as FragFX without major problems in the management of sight. However after a few hours of game play you can safely turn off that setting even with a normal pad. On the LAN
good news for owners of Xbox and PS3, both consoles can play in LAN up to 18 players. The PC versions but are limited to the game online through arms.
On line the game performs well on both Xbox and PS3, especially on the PS3 I noticed a few moments of lag even though sometimes they are connected more than 900 000 players. The average online presence is between 600 thousand and 700 thousand players to the PS3 version .. really great!
Conclusions A game to be taken, beautiful fun and exciting even if it has difettuccio few here and there. For owners of multiple platforms recommend the purchase on the console (it has less problems, more and more stable performance.)
For those who own both Xbox and PS3, the choice is difficult and then I suggest you take that to the platform where you have more friends to share the game.
For those who only buy the PC Board only after the arrival of the mysterious patch ...
COD Great!
