Metro 2033
About two months ago I bought at a price to put it mildly ridiculous this little masterpiece.
History The story, adapted from a novel of the same name, tells the story of some survivors in a post-war Moscow
where men are forced to live in the old Moscow underground shelter
adapted to the outdoor air is be impossible to breathe, necessitating the use masks specific to
move to the surface without letting the feathers.
In addition to tackling the perennial cold and the environmental situation is not particularly friendly,
men are facing strange creatures (mutations due to radiation) that sometimes
trying to make inroads in the subway. Our
aleter-ego finds himself unwillingly embroiled in a series of events (a little at
Morgan Freeman of Half Life) and will try to save their home refuge.
seeking help from shelters and close friends, you will find wandering around these metropolitan
spectral and, in some cases, clashing with monsters on the surface but also with men of the faction
neo-Nazi, alternating sessions sessions stealth action.
GamePlay The game looks like a survivor-horror FPS in Half Life, with a good ability to interact with the environment
(many are interactive and destructible environmental elements).
There will be possibility to change the plot slightly
through interaction and behavior that will keep during the course of the adventure.
One of the things that fascinated me most are the weapons the weapons ... well recall only vaguely
current weapons known in many other games, because most are
quite rudimentary and require a good deal to be able to choose the tactics' the right weapon
right time, the number of projectiles is not as high, and above all there is big difference between good quality
projectiles (bullets cosiddettti the military, also used as a bargaining chip) and those
craft.
The number of bullets as soon as that is not so exaggerated and often have to try to move
without engaging the enemy in order to save ammunition for the most agitated moments.
Metro 2033 is a major user of the lights that play a key role in taking
strategies needed to overcome the various levels, the enemy AI is very effective (especially if
played at the highest levels of difficulty) percu we must always be careful where we put our feet
We will have more time to turn off the lights (by breaking the bulbs or switches) in order to earn
can not be seen.
come to our aid (not immediately) but a night vision device is battery powered
... and this will require to be reloaded manually through the activation of a dynamo manual
then need to study very well how to move and this incentive strategies more circumspect and not instinctive actions
to Rambo that will only result of our death.
Other noteworthy element is the use of gas masks in areas with air contaminated, the mask will
need our full attention because we have to change the filters once spent
and possibly change the mask in case of breakage during the fighting (oh yeah!)
Attention why go there without a mask in contaminated areas kill within a couple of minutes.
All items and equipment can be found rummaging among the corpses in the shops or through barter
who will be created in cities underground.
Talking about how this game is offered with only the single player mode, there
online play, is presented as a time were then played the video games
play but do not worry everything will take from 10 to 18 actual hours (depending on the level of difficulty and your ability
course).
Also, for lovers of achievements, both on Xbox on Steam that you can unlock achievements,
interesting that some of them will lead us to replay part or all of the game at least once.
Graphics Graphically I think it was the best game of 2010, the particle effects, lights and shadows are
the most beautiful and realistic can be seen on a video game to date. In fact
Metro 2033 has support for DX11 (as tassellation) and Physix.
Effects as the mask that fogs up in cold (or is ending because the filter) and that in fact it alters the visual
giving us that sense of clausofobia that only a film could give as well, Metro 2033
make a game too far.
is where it comes out ... the only flaw of the game on the Xbox while the game runs with very high details
(but obviously without Physix prerogative of Nvidia cards and the PS3 .. which is equipped with Nvidia, and without DX11)
but the game is extremely fluid smoothly on a PC, the situation is drastically different. The game
drains the hardware of your machine as only the first Far Cry could do.
Technically, the game can run on a Dual Core (a series E8xx is very good) and just 2 GB of RAM
but want a pretty powerful video card to run.
I got to test the game on two configurations:
CPU Q9400 at 2.66, then a quad core Intel's previous series, 1066Mhz 4 GB (DDR2 then)
and two 5770 in CF, with this configuration I was able to run the game at 1680x1050 with details
Middle-High and DX11 active (without Tassellation, DOF and Physix on) getting an average of 30 FPS
with reasonable fluency. As always at 1680x1050 with DX10 but I could play with maximum details and
an average of 40 FPS with a better overall flow. On a configuration with
Q9400 overclocked to 3.6, the usual 4 GB of RAM and a
GTX 570 is able to run the game at 1680x1050 everything on full (with DX11, tassellation, DOF and activated Physix)
maintaining an average of 45 FPS and a perfect fluid.
As you can see so if you want to play more than you need to equip yourself with a pretty good fast CPU (over 3.5 GHz)
and a powerful video card. It must be said that even with DX10 the game makes her look good.
Nothing to complain about the Xbox version, well-functioning without any problems and as a pointing
well keyed on the pad.
Sound nothing too (we are not at the levels of a BFBC2) but still enjoyable, unfortunately, leave much dubbing in Italian
but much to be desired (also sometimes you can hear in the background of French phrases
.. mah!). The sound effects are pretty well chosen, well kept
instead those of "presence" and monsters as well as of each piece of music that you hear so much from the old radio out
Soviet restarting.
Conclusions What can I say .. a must have if you have an Xbox you can not miss, if you have a PC two years ago
high-end or mid-high end PCs purchased in 2010 a little thought and let us Do yourself a favor
end-natal; Metro 2033 is cheap (now) and will give you many hours of addictive fun. And I have literally
smoking by as much as I liked it, not easy to finish a game (if played at the highest level)
very tactical and very free in their choice of strategies .. I really liked the point that when I'm replaying to unlock some achievements.
